#Eve_eats : Acme Bar & Coffee @KL, Troika

My pre-birthday dinner with friends :)
So the gang planned to surprise me for my birthday but it was a tough job for them.
A birthday dinner before my actual birthday which not many of them turned up and made me so freaking sad.
And THIS was the evil fake birthday dinner.

Pan seared sea bass

This was my main course. As im consider a small eater the fish was adequate. I liked how the skin was done. So crispy! But overall the dish is a lil bit too sweet for my liking. I think it shall be more fruity and refreshing with hint of sweet instead.

Polenta Crust Messy Pizza

VERY cheesy! Generous but too filling

Moroccan Pineapple Grilled Chicken Breast

Smoked Duck Breast Fillet

Cempedak Cake
It tastes just fair, not sure why i didnt WOWWW about it. Probably the dining area is abit too dark and my vision always eats first LOL. Seriously, cempedak taste was quite mild even though it is quite an innovative attempt, good pairing with pistachio but not nutty enough.

Caramel Macadamia Cake
Butter cake? Nothing special. Id rather gobble down Garette's Caramel Macadamia PopCorn.

#Eve_bake : Tiramisu

Tadaaaaa! Birthday cake for Richard :) my sis's bf hehe

Believe it or not this is the first whole cake i've ever made.
From scratch!!!
No pre-mixed!!!!
Im so proud of myself haha!

Cake base is traditional cake baked by only using 4 ingredients:
- eggs
- sugar
- fine/ cake flour
- butter
I baked the cake base a few days earlier, cling wrapped and kept in the fridge :)

Tiramisu mix using Tatua Mascarpone cheese. Its a cheaper option as i wasn't confident if it will turn out well.
....or edible
............or ppl may not even recognise it as a cake haha!
And i replaced sour cream by natural greek yoghurt.
I added bailey's too yumm yummmm!

There was a lil mistake here and there which requires me to sift the mixture before folding in but overall its fine. Its just that I cant achieve the best smooth texture.
Which explain why there was no step by step picture haha!
I should get a Go Pro (i think my bf just rolled his eyes)

#Eve_eats : Bumbu Bali @ Bandar Puteri Puchong

It was just a bf-less weekend, with a mission-very-possible to satisfy mum the queen's craving.
So there we are, superb heavy family dinner at Puchong.
The queen's craving will be revealed later haha.

My impression about balinese food is just a word :flavourful
Its somehow similar to Malay cuisin. But instead of lemak, its nutty dressing in most dishes. Loads of grilling n frying but well balanced with creative use of herbs and lemongrass. Can never go wrong with aromatic rice.
And.... Generous portion.
The portion so generous my brother had to help me with my main n take away his quarter of the half chicken served! LoL.
(Yes i eat, but i dont overdo my portion. Thats my motto.)

And heck! Im travelling to Bali in less than a month haha!
Consider this a teaser. Im now so very excited :D
I actually extended a list of food i MUST eat in Bali to my bf.
The rest i really dont care.
Oh, and also i spa and i must look pretty the whole trip.
Then i will be a happy girl :P

My brother's Nasi Siap Bumbu RM33

The queen's Tipat Cantuk RM19
yes this is what she crave for n its appetizer.
she just simply love its dressing n we asked for extra :P

Dad's Nasi Campur Chicken RM37

My beef pasta RM33
Barley jug RM19 enough to serve 4 to 5 person

#Eve_eats : Obanhmi @ Damansara Uptown

First, Im gonna start this post with an obvious tagline:

"I LOVE BREAD"

ok done.

And good love will lead you to some greater love LOL

The lead being:
So i got to know from my baking sifu that effing good baguette can also be found at our neighbour country other than Europe.
Vietnam it is, reason being the influence of French colonialism for over 200 years.
On seperate event, my fussy bf cant stop telling me the "Vietnamese Burger" he had back in Melbourne, it was so good that its the only time he would take cilantro.

With the help of social media food sharing etc etc, eventually i found out the damn Burger is Banh Mi!

Vietnamese Baguette = French Baguette ; but lighter and crunchier crust

Whereas Banh Mi is Vietnamese Baguette Sandwich with classic filling of grilled ground pork, chicken slices, turkey ham, pickled carrots and daikon radish, cilantro. Of course there are slight serving difference from different food joint which i wouldnt be picking on. As long as it taste good!

#Eve_eats : Whisk Espresso Bar & Bake Shop @ Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya

Small hidden gem at Subang.. ok it is still small but not so hidden anymore LOL!
Whisk Espresso gain its popularity almost quite on par with the cafe hopping trend.
Well, a good cup of coffee speaks for itself.

Whereas a good plate of dessert gives us the reason to come back.

My favourite dessert from Whisk Espresso is still the Pink Stacks but it wasn't available on my last visit :(
Classic banana bread/cake was quite a yummer too!! Dont get fooled by its look i'd say.
Naturally sweeten by the main ingredient (banana), lightly crumbled top, served warm with butter if u like to enjoy it to the max.

Sorry if u read this at night.

#Eve_Eat : Scarborough Fish & Chips @ Langkawi Tanjung Rhu

So finally i settled my virgin blog post to this awesome fish & chip place in Langkawi.
Pardon me for the lack of info cause everything posted here for now are actually #unplanned and what people would like to call, a #throwback :)

I have read quite a few review about this place and find it worth visiting.
I mean whats the chance of having fresh fish & chips by the beach (plus point) and they serve cheap apple cider (super super plus point)!!
Of course assorted beers are available too but we girls dont quite fancy :P

Feeding a group of 11 hungry human, this small restaurant have done quite a good job accomodating us.
We were there way past lunch hour and really appreciate their keeping track on their stock level.
They were so sure of their availability as they take the orders.
You know how frustrating it is when u get so hungry, tired, ordered and salivating thoughts thinking "hello food please come already!!!"
Then the next thing u get is just waiter coming back to tell u sorry its out and please place your order for something else.........

hungry women are the fierce women (my bf nods)
hey, try provoking them! I dare u hahaha

So none of us ordered the normal deep fried fish & chips in the end.
What to do? Knowledge discourage us from taking dory fish.
Normal fish & chips cost RM17 (deep fried) / RM18 (pan fried)
While other fish like mackerel etc etc cost from the range of RM35 to RM55.
Yeap it wasnt cheap but its worth it!

I was too hungry to take more pictures.
